# Preferences and Settings

**Preferences**\
This dialog will give you an option regarding opening RAW image files.

**Apply gamma correction on opening**\
If checked, this option will apply a gamma of the amount in the edit box to RAW files when they are opened.

**Hardware Settings**\
This dialog will give you information about the hardware that can be used for speeding up processing.

**Use hardware (GPU / CPU) acceleration**\
If this option is checked, then Astra Image will use the hardware in your system to increase processing speed. If you are having problems processing, you can uncheck this option and do processing purely on the CPU.

**OpenCL Settings**\
Here you can select the OpenCL platform and device to use for processing. If there are no devices listed, you need to install an OpenCL driver. Some diagnostic information about the currently selected device is also displayed. Generally, you should select a GPU for maximum performance.
